The House of Representatives has approved President Bola Tinubu’s proclamation of State of Emergency in Rivers State despite mixed reactions challenging the quorum of members at plenary.
The approval by the House came through a voice vote called by the Speaker of the House, Abbas Tajudeen after it had embarked on an executive session that lasted for over 30 minutes.
At the resumption of plenary after the executive session, lawmakers questioned the lack of quorum and made amendments on the President’s declaration
President Bola Tinubu had on Tuesday via a nationwide broadcast declared a State of Emergency in Rivers State suspending the State governor, his deputy and members of the state House of Assembly for six months at the first instance.following the prolonged political crisis in the State.
