‎In a renowned efforts to foster nation building, Nigerian Minister of Defence, Muhammed Badaru has called on all stakeholders to invest hugely on education as a critical ingredient in enhancing national security.


‎This is coming on the heels of the proposed construction of Defence and Police Officer’s Wives Association’s (DEPOWA) College project, when completed will be of benefit not only to the families of personnel who lay their lives for national peace and unity but also for the mental growth of a Nigerian child.


‎Badaru gave the disclosure at a Ground Breaking and Fund Raising ceremony for the proposed Defence and Police Officer’s Wives Association’s college in Abuja, where he commended DEPOWA for it’s visionary leadership in advancing this significant initiative.

 




‎He also said a  well-educated generation, nurtured in an environment of discipline and patriotism, is critical to sustaining national peace, unity, and progress in the country.


‎The Minister described the event as a historic milestone: “It is with great pride and enthusiasm that I join you today to celebrate this momentous occasion—the ground-breaking and fundraising for the DEPOWA College Project. This initiative embodies the unwavering commitment of our military and police families to nation-building, and I commend DEPOWA for its visionary leadership in championing this noble cause.”


‎Highlighting the importance of education, the Minister stated, “Education is the bedrock of societal progress. This college will serve as a beacon of hope, excellence, and opportunity for the children of our brave service members.


‎”By investing in their future, we honor the sacrifices of their parents and strengthen the foundation of our national security. A well-educated generation nurtured in an environment of discipline and patriotism is critical to sustaining peace, unity, and prosperity in Nigeria.”


‎” The Ministry of Defense stands in solidarity with the power and pledges full support to ensure the timely completion of this project.


‎ “We will follow up with you and make sure it is completed at the record time and whatever shortfalls that we envisage, we’ll find a way to peel it in and make sure that it is delivered.” he said”


‎Earlier, the Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa stressed that education is a critical pillar for national development and societal progress, adding that breaking ground for the DEPOWA College as further reaffirm commitment to the holistic development of Nigeria children and future leaders.


‎He noted that this noble initiative by DEPOWA is not just about bricks and blocks but also about the construction of a future built on knowledge, discipline and character.


‎”The establishment of this institution is an investment in the intellectual growth of our youths, ensuring that they receive quality education that aligns with global best practices.


‎”DEPOWA has continued to be a beacon of hope and support for the families of our gallant officers. Over the years, the association has played a crucial role in enhancing the welfare of officers’ families, supporting widows, and providing empowerment programs for women and children.


‎”This initiative is yet another testament to DEPOWA’s unwavering dedication to societal transformation. It also underscores the critical role women play in shaping the destinies of nations by fostering environments where knowledge and moral values are instilled in the next generation.
