The Speaker of the 10th House of Representatives, Hon. Abbas Tajudeen, has challenged the executive to ensure the implementation of laws and other interventions made by the parliament in the overall interest of the citizens.
Speaking at the inaugural National Policy Dialogue on the Legislative Agenda in Abuja, noted that the House has conducted robust oversight of the Executive over the past two years, investigating economic reforms and national security efforts.
Tajudeen explained that the dialogue was created to foster honest, evidence-based discussions between the legislature, executive, and citizens to improve governance.
Deputy Speaker Hon. Benjamin Kalu revealed that over 1,059 bills have been presented since the begining of this 10th House of Representatives
Hon. Cyril Hart Godwin,chairman house committee on monitoring and evaluation of implementation of the legislative agenda highlighted the importance of integrating stakeholder input into the House’s eight-point Legislative Agenda.
Chairman of the Conference of State Legislatures, Hon. Adebo Ogundoyin, on his part called for security reforms, stressing proactive, intelligence-driven measures and the recruitment of unemployed graduates into security services as long-term investments.
Meanwhile, the Minister of Labour, Muhammad Maigari Dingyadi, urged the House to pass pending labour bills to benefit Nigerian workers.
The event also featured goodwill messages from various stakeholders and development partners.
