JUST IN: Tinubu To Address Joint Session Of National Assembly June 12

‎Senator Godswill Akpabio, President of the Senate, has announced that a joint session of the National Assembly will be held on June 12 to mark Democracy Day.


‎This is coming on the heels of the Senate adjournment of sitting to June 17 to mark both Democracy Day and Eid-el-Kabir


‎He made these announcements following the reconvening of the upper chamber for plenary on Wednesday.


‎Senator Akpabio further revealed that the Senate Leader, Senator Opeyemi Bamidele, the Senate Minority Leader, Senator Abba Moro, and the Chairman of Senate Services, Senator Sunday Karimi, will collaborate with their counterparts in the House of Representatives to finalize the program of activities and coordinate arrangements for the special session.


‎Additionally, the Senate President disclosed that President Bola Tinubu has kindly agreed to attend the joint session in person.


‎He emphasized that the Senate has authorized the committee to fast-track planning and finalize the modalities for the event’s agenda in the coming days


‎Meanwhile, the Senate also made adjustments on membership of regional development committees and nominated Senator Gbenga Daniel, Ogun East as the Vice Chairman of South-West committee and Senator Sarafadeen Ali, Oyo South as a member.
