The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has dismissed media reports suggesting it has recognised certain individuals as National Chairman and National Secretary of the Labour Party (LP).
Chief Press Secretary to the INEC Chairman, Rotimi Oyekanmi, in a statement on his X handle, described the reports as false and misleading.
Oyekanmi clarified that the Commission has not taken any decision regarding the leadership tussles in Labour Party.
According to him, the names currently on the Commission’s website reflect previous court orders unrelated to the recent Supreme Court judgment concerning the LP.
“As a law-abiding institution, the Commission is carefully studying the Supreme Court’s judgement on the Labour Party and will communicate its official position in due course,” Oyekanmi stated.
