BREAKING: INEC Debunks Reports of Recognising Factional Labour Party leaders

‎The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has dismissed media reports suggesting it has recognised certain individuals as National Chairman and National Secretary of the Labour Party (LP).

‎Chief Press Secretary to the INEC Chairman, Rotimi Oyekanmi, in a statement on his X handle, described the reports as false and misleading.

‎Oyekanmi clarified that the Commission has not taken any decision regarding the leadership tussles in Labour Party.

‎According to him, the names currently on the Commission’s website reflect previous court orders unrelated to the recent Supreme Court judgment concerning the LP.

‎“As a law-abiding institution, the Commission is carefully studying the Supreme Court’s judgement on the Labour Party and will communicate its official position in due course,” Oyekanmi stated.
