β….As IGP Reaffirms Commitment to Improved Working Conditions

βThe Inspector-General of Police IGP Kayode Egbetokun has reiterated the commitment of the Force to continually develop policies that improve the standard of living and working conditions of its personnel, assuring officers that dedication and excellence will always be recognized and rewarded.

βThis is coming on the heels of the unveiling the second edition of the Nigeria Police Awards and Commendations which aimed at recognizing and rewarding exceptional acts of bravery, professionalism, integrity, and service excellence across the Force.

βIn a press conference, the Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi who gave the disclosure at the Force headquarters in Abuja, said the initiative is also geared towards forming part of a broader policy thrust to enhance personnel motivation, welfare, and operational efficiency.

βHe added that the IGP emphasized the commitment of the Force to improving the welfare of officers and men while stressing the importance of providing comfortable living and working conditions.

βAlso the emplacement of a credible and transparent reward system which will recognize and honour hardworking, honest, gallant and patriotic personnel of the Nigeria Police.

β”Since its establishment, the Nigeria Police Force, through its dedication and patriotic commitment to a united Nigeria, has remained the nationβs leading security agency in internal security.

β”The Force has remained steadfast and committed to combating all forms of criminality in the country. As part of his vision to motivate and encourage police officers, the Inspector-General of Police has approved the organization of the second edition of the Nigeria Police Awards and Commendations Ceremony in conjunction with Lenders Consult International, a critical stakeholder in the Nigerian security space.

β”The hosting of the Nigeria Police Awards and Commendations Ceremony is a part of a more comprehensive response package aimed at improving personnel overall welfare and motivation.

β”This includes steady and significant improvement in housing and working conditions across all Police commands and formations. It also includes the emplacement of a credible and transparent reward system which will identify, recognize and honour acts of honesty, gallantry, dedication and patriotism displayed by our officers.

β”This platform will provide an opportunity for officers to be recognized and rewarded for their exceptional dedication and performance without relying solely on special promotions. “IGP stated.

βAccording to Force’s Spokesperson, the IGP envisions a renewed sense of pride and dedication among police officers as they know their hard work and dedication will be acknowledged and celebrated appropriately, adding that the initiative will also promote comradeship, unity, and teamwork within the Force. And also assist in developing a sense of collaboration and shared responsibility in achieving the Forceβs objectives.

βAdejobi further noted that the event, organized in collaboration with Lenders Consult International, will feature awards in various categories including Crime Buster of the Year, Community Policing Advocate of the Year, Detective of the Year, Police Sports Person of the Year, DPO of the Year, Area Commander of the Year, Patrol Team of the Year, Traffic Officer of the Year, Awards for Gallantry and Integrity, and the prestigious Police Officer of the Year.

βThe IGP Special Recognition Awards will also be given to honour officers who have distinguished themselves in specialized fields such as Public Relations, Legal Practice, and Medical Services.

βThe award selection process has been rigorous and transparent. Nominations were submitted from all formations of the Force, including Force Headquarters, Zonal Commands, State Commands, Area and Divisional Headquarters. A dedicated collation committee comprising senior police officers and a representative of Lenders Consult International, renowned for organizing credible and transparent awards, reviewed the submissions.

βThe final selection was made by the Force Management Team under the leadership of the IGP, following extensive deliberations. This thorough process ensured credibility, transparency, and shielded the awards from undue influence.

βThe Second Award Ceremony is scheduled to hold on Wednesday 4th June 2025 at the Police Resource Centre, Jabi, Abuja. President Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR, the Special Guest of Honour will be joined by very important dignitaries, experts in the security circle and senior security managers of the Force and other security and intelligence agencies
