Speaking in Abuja at the APC National Summit themed “Renewed Hope Agenda: The Journey So Far,” Idris stated that Tinubu welcomes diverse views but ultimately makes independent, courageous decisions.
“You need to study the president very well,” he said. “He will listen, but his decision is his own. He is not beholden to any shadowy group or cabal.”
Idris described the Renewed Hope Agenda as a bold, people-focused blueprint that is transforming Nigeria by confronting long-standing challenges head-on.
He pointed to major reforms, including the removal of fuel and forex subsidies, which he said had drained national resources for decades.
Highlighting achievements across key sectors, the Minister cited the execution of over 2,600km of strategic highways, the revitalisation of the Lagos-Kano railway, mass housing projects, and the rollout of 90,000km of broadband fibre cable to drive digital growth.
On security, he noted the acquisition of new military aircraft and naval vessels, with thousands of hostiles neutralised and nearly 10,000 hostages rescued.
He also praised initiatives like the National Education Loan Fund, consumer credit for workers, and the recent Renewed Hope Nigeria First policy, which prioritises local goods and services in federal spending.
