The House of Representatives summoned the Minister of State for the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Dr. Mariya Bunkure to appear before its committee on FCT Area Council and ancillary matters or face the wrath of the law.
Chairman of the Committee, Hon. Agbedi Fredrick gave the ruling in Abuja following the absence of Dr. Bunkure and eleven other heads of Agencies and Departments at the 2025 budget defence session for FCT.
Hon. Fredrick said it is worrisome that the Minister was not available to lead her 14 agencies to defend the 2025 FCT budget
He called on President Bola Tinubu to ensure that the needful is done to the Minister whose absence had slow the pace of the Committee in scrutinising the budget.
Earlier, members of the committee in their separate opinions had moved that the Minister be given a specific day ultimatum to appear.
They described the absence of the Minister and other heads of agencies of the FCT at the committee as an affront to test the power of the Committee.
Recall that President Tinubu in a letter addressed to the House on the FCT 2025 budget had seek for its speedy passage considering its importance.
